The Procurement Best Practice Academy Services

Developing a Community of Practice – The Knowledge Exchange

We believe that Procurement professionals across the UK are doing excellent work that is going largely unrecognised outside their own organisations. The PBPA aims to harness examples of good practice and share them with like-minded professionals and academics. The PBPA’s Knowledge Exchange will provide a hub for the dissemination of case studies, projects and research. We also believe that bringing academics and practitioners together and giving them the opportunities to share ideas will help to develop new research opportunities and the next generation of best practice. The Knowledge Exchange will therefore provide a vehicle for floating ideas, comparing experiences and thinking outside the box. The community of practice will also have access to the PBPA’s Linkedin Group and regular webinars.

Research

The Procurement Best Practice Academy team at USW has considerable experience of undertaking “academic and commercial research projects”. The Team can also call on specialists in Marketing, Accounting, Law and Leadership from within the Faculty. We would be happy to discuss developing research projects with organisations, or facilitating research partnerships through the ‘Knowledge Exchange’.

Consultancy and Projects

The PBPA Team can provide consultancy ranging from ‘Critical Friend’ reviews to in depth problem-solving studies. In addition, we have specialist undergraduate and postgraduate students who are eager to undertake ‘live’ projects as part of their course assessment. If you have a small piece of research that needs doing, or a problem you would like investigated, a student project could be a cost effective option. We would be happy to match a suitable student to your organisations’ needs. We can also facilitate Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and Strategic Insight Projects.

Training and Education

The University of South Wales offer Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) courses at Levels 4, 5 and 6. We also offer a BA (Hons) Logistics and Supply Chain Management which can also be studied part-time through the Network 75 scheme.

We also offer MSc in Strategic Procurement Management and MSc International Logistics and Supply Chain Management on a full-time or part-time basis. All our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are fully accredited by CIPS and offer an attractive alternative route to CIPS qualification. We also offer PhD and D.B.A research in procurement related topics.

The PBPA can also deliver a range of short courses in all aspects of Procurement and Supply Chain Management. We can tailor short courses to your needs, or deliver activities and simulations which test innovative abilities, teamworking, problems solving and working under pressure.
