Rachel leads the Supply Chain Performance Group within CSCOPE. Rachel was awarded a BEng (Hons) from University of Glamorgan and a PhD from Cardiff University where she worked closely with Professor Dennis Towell on research into supply chain dynamics and the development and application of Lean, Agile and Leagile concepts.
Prior to joining academia, Rachel worked as a Supply Chain Manager in the aerospace and electronics industries in the UK and the USA during which time she undertook a range range of projects. Rachel project managed the development of a consolidated purchasing information tool as part of a key set of products developed to streamline the supply chain. She was also responsible for the reconfiguration of a distribution centre to enable new products to be stored and processed. Rachel was part of a two member project management office which managed a distribution consolidation project. As a Research Associate to an Aerospace company Rachel designed, developed and implemented a revolutionary ‘interactive’ business process model characterizing the Product Introduction Process (PIP) for new aircraft engines. She also researched, analyzed and developed the utilization of supply chain management, control and systems engineering to design a simulation model to predict how the upstream availability of marketplace sales information will affect supply chain dynamics.
Rachel is a reviewer for reviewer for the Journal for Manufacturing Technology Management and Supply Chain Management: An International Journal. Rachel is a frequent speaker at national conferences and seminars, particularly on the subject of sustainability.
Rachel supervises research by Master’s and Doctoral students. She is also Course Leader for the MSc International logistics and Supply Chan Management and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
